Meet the Maker... of Perth Makers Market!

We often get asked how Perth Makers Market came to be, so this week we thought we’d share with you Erin Madeley’s story of how she went from being a maker attending markets as a stallholder herself, to becoming the brains behind Perth Makers Market.

Erin started off with her own handmade business; Handmadeley. Making sock toys, kids cuddle rugs and embroidered wall hangings and necklaces, Erin attended markets as a stallholder around Perth. Loving the handmade scene she wanted to support it on a larger scale.
Erin dove right in with getting the market up and running while still working in her role as an Emergency Management Trainer at Princess Margaret Hospital! She started from the ground up, creating Perth Makers Market – which is now Perth’s largest handmade market.

Her vision was to create a market with strict handmade regulations that help create and foster a real future for small hand-made business’ of Perth.
Today, this is Erin’s full-time job and if you speak to many of her regular stallholders you will know and understand the support and structure she puts in to make the PMM one of the best markets Perth has to offer if not, Australia!

Erin also places a strong commitment to community & gives non-profit organisations stalls for free to fundraise and spread awareness for their causes. she has partnered with Rotary (who manage our parking - with donations going back into the community) and offers discounts for new/emerging artists as well as students who want to join the Perth Makers Market family.

With it’s fabulous location, amazing stall holders and support of local and emerging artists as well as not-for-profits we are sure you’ll agree a PMM day out is a fab excursion for all.
With her high aspirations and charitable mindset Erin was awarded a Community Business Award in 2017 from Applecross Rotary ‘in recognition of exceptional social and community service”. She is also a regular public speaker around Perth and is a huge advocate for mental health awareness which she has gained respect for through her working life and on a personal level.

When she’s not off running Perth’s premium hand made market, lending her voice to Boss Mode Radio or the plethora of other things she’s involved in professionally, she’s a mum to two fabulous, and in their own right "little creatives", and wife to a "very understanding (and supportive) husband".
